Due to her careful training in her Religious
studies by her parents and her eldest sister Amelia, Gianna was fortunate
to be allowed to
make her First Communion at the age of 5 and a half. On April 4, 1948
she received her first Communion at the parish of Santa Grata in Bergamo.
Two years later she was confirmed at the Cathedral
From then on, Gianna went to Mass and received Communion
daily whatever the state of the weather or her studies. She
was a daily communicant her whole life.
“Will you also go away? Unless
you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood,
you have no life in you.” (John
6,53.67).
